Things I like about the Season…
Winter #1
The last leaves have long fallen from the aspens in the backyard. Steel gray skies slide across the mountains, bringing with them the promise of real weather. By the calendar, winter is still a good three weeks away, but the air is cold, sharp. The snow falls, pilling silently over any suggestion that this is still fall. Winter most certainly has arrived. Coming in from the cold, it is the time of year when warm scents of cider and cinnamon greet me before the last of the cold chill is shut safely behind. It is time for hunkering down, pouring hot drinks, and listening to the rage of the storm outside. It is time for warm cozy nights by the fire. The soft glow of candles and coals, the smell of her hair as she leans back into me. There is no place we need go, no time we need to be there. This season is a time to slow to the rhythm of the winter woods, and wrap each other in warm anticipation of the spring to come.
Your writing is beautiful today. You warm my heart and soul with your images, I can smell the season in your words.

Thank you. I would love to claim the writing, but Professor and I were talking last night, exchanging thoughts and he constructed these beautiful words.

Yes Sir. Professor and I had a fun night taking pictures by the fire. There were a few where he had TOO much fun with and those will NEVER see the light of day. 😉

Me too! Nothing better than a warm fire, curled up under a warm quilt, sipping on something warm and enjoying the memories hanging on the Christmas tree. 🙂

Short you say, long enough to attract his eye I say. But it is all a moot point if you are swinging with your toes off the floor isn’t it?

Yes, Sir. I believe you are correct with your assessment. I also believe I blushed and my stomach fluttered when I read it too. Thank you for the smile and lovely thought. 😉

So glad you can feel through the imagery. Miss A and I have started trying some quick, spontaneous “flash” writing, based on images, events, and feelings of the moment. I wrote this piece with the photo and the recent 14″ snow dump and Arctic temperatures as inspiration. So far we are both REALLY enjoying being creative together, and the wonderfully positive feedback. Stay tuned! There will undoubtedly be more to come.
